Fresh off a bowl of borscht and a Super Heebster sandwich at Russ & Daughters Cafe, Clara and Sam hit Orchard Street on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in search of inspiration. Along the way, they visit the Tenement Museum to learn about the neighborhood’s rich history of immigrant garment workers and meet several Jewish shop owners to talk food and fashion.
Sam and Clara venture uptown to the Jewish Museum on the Upper East Side to look at art and fashion with author and activist Adam Eli and to Brooklyn’s Crown Heights for a unique perspective on biblical and contemporary dress from Rabbi Jericho Vincent. People watching on Eastern Parkway showcase some interesting Orthodox fits while a few visual themes begin to emerge in their conversations.
